MusicSphere is excited to announce the launch of its project dedicated to the digital preservation, study, and immersive exploration of Europe’s musical  heritage, with a special focus on pipe organs and the ancient Greek Hydraulis (water organ).
MusicSphere Kick-off meeting
The project kicked off on 16–17 October in Thessaloniki, Greece, during an inspiring meeting hosted by the Centre for Research & Technology, Hellas (CERTH) and coordinated by the Brain, Health & Virtual Reality (BHV) Group. Partners from Greece, Spain, Germany, Cyprus, and Belgium came together to lay the foundations of this interdisciplinary and collaborative initiative.

By combining advanced 3D technologies, acoustic analysis, and immersive VR and AR experiences, MusicSphere captures not only the physical form of these instruments, but also their sound, mechanical behaviour, and interaction with architectural spaces, treating them as living cultural artefacts.

As part of The Cultural Heritage Cloud (ECCCH) developed by ECHOES, MusicSphere contributes to a wider European ecosystem supporting research, conservation, and innovative access to musical traditions.
