What if you could virtually test a restoration strategy before touching a single artwork? On the 12th May 2026, COLOURS is bringing this possibility — and much more — to conservators-restorers gathered in Ljubljana for a hands-on workshop attached to the General Assembly of E.C.C.O.

COLOURS Workshop 12 May 2026 at E.C.C.O - Shaping the Future of Digital Conservation-Restoration

Taking place at the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia (Poljanska street 40), the workshop will introduce participants to the COLOURS-ECCCH Community of Practice and its suite of digital tools designed to bridge the gap between conservation-restoration expertise and digital efficiency.

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore and interact directly with the COLOURS tools, including advanced visualisation capabilities that overlay scientific data and condition maps onto high-fidelity 2D/3D models, predictive simulation tools to virtually test restoration strategies before physical intervention, and FAIR documentation systems connected to a cloud-based repository for seamless knowledge sharing.

Beyond showcasing the tools, the workshop is a collaborative moment: participants are invited to help identify current bottlenecks and interoperability gaps, and to share their daily challenges with the development team. Your expertise will directly influence the future of these tools.

The COLOURS project is developing advanced yet user-friendly tools for colour analysis and visualisation of examination data, modelling and simulating the gradual ageing of coloured or polychrome objects, and digitally restoring their original appearance — all within cloud-based collaborative conservation-restoration workspaces on the Cultural Heritage Cloud, being developed by ECHOES.
