The UNICHE project is pleased to announce the launch of two complementary surveys exploring the growing role of artificial intelligence in the cultural heritage sector and how visitors prefer to interact with museum exhibitions. Together, these initiatives aim to gather insights from both professionals and visitors to better understand current practices, expectations, and ethical considerations surrounding digital cultural experiences.

The Expert Survey on AI in Experience and Exhibition Design invites contributions from professionals working across cultural heritage, technology, research, and policy. As AI becomes increasingly embedded in areas such as documentation, collections management, interpretation, and public engagement, important ethical questions arise around transparency, bias, authorship, data governance, and responsible use. This comprehensive questionnaire seeks to map how AI is currently used, identify key ethical challenges, collect perspectives on good practices, and inform future guidelines and collaboration.

In parallel, the Museum Visitor Survey explores how people engage with museums, exhibitions, and emerging technologies. The survey examines real visitor behaviour — from planning and navigating visits to interacting with exhibits and responding to AI-enhanced experiences. Findings will be analysed to build richer visitor profiles and will support the development of an AI-based conversational agent designed to enhance and personalise future museum interactions. The questionnaire takes approximately 5–10 minutes to complete and is open to everyone, whether you are a museum professional or a casual visitor.
