ECHOES will participate in the E-RIHS ERIC Opening Days on the 12th–14th November 2025 in Florence, a three-day event designed to bring together members, partners, and stakeholders.
E-RIHS is the European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science, supporting the study, interpretation, conservation, documentation, and management of cultural heritage. Officially established as a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) on 28 March 2025, it offers access to cutting-edge laboratories, tools, and data, and provides training opportunities in heritage science.

The Open Days will take place at the Central Hub in Florence, located in the regenerated industrial site of Manifattura Tabacchi, the permanent headquarters of E-RIHS ERIC.
The programme includes a wide range of activities: public sessions open to the broader community, technical workshops, and institutional meetings to coordinate future actions.
Topics will cover the involvement of young heritage professionals, the opportunities arising from the integration of E-RIHS services and resources, and the infrastructure’s contribution to strategic European initiatives such as the European Cultural Heritage Cloud. A special moment will be dedicated to Prof. Antonio Sgamellotti (1939–2025), whose scientific and cultural legacy continues to inspire and guide the work of heritage scientists.
“The Open Days are an important step in the life of E-RIHS ERIC,” said Vania Virgili, Director General of E-RIHS. “They offer a concrete occasion to share our work, strengthen collaborations, and highlight the contribution of heritage science to society.”

ECHOES will be at the centre of two key moments in the programme:
- A public session entitled “E-RIHS and the European Cultural Heritage Cloud”, which will present ECHOES’ contribution to the development of the Cloud
- A technical workshop entitled “ECHOES workshop: ERICs, the Cloud and the Data Space”, bringing together representatives of several European research infrastructures to discuss synergies and models of cooperation.
Participation in the E-RIHS ERIC Open Days is free of charge but requires registration.
