The ECHOES event ‘The Cultural Heritage Cloud regional meeting – Connecting to the Baltics and Nordics‘ on developing a European digital cloud for cultural heritage will be held on the 14th October, the day after the NEMO European Museum Conference being held in Vilnius, Lithuania from Sunday 11th October- Tuesday 13th October 2026.
Following the official conference programme, one of NEMO’s current projects, ECHOES, is offering an additional session on its work developing a European digital cloud for cultural heritage.
How can museums and cultural heritage institutions across Europe collaborate more effectively in the digital age?
This meeting invites museum professionals, researchers, and policymakers to explore new opportunities for connection, exchange, and collaboration. Taking advantage of the conference location, the meeting primarily welcomes professionals from the Baltic and Nordic countries, thereby taking on a regional, as well as an international, character.
The session introduces the ECHOES project within the European cultural heritage and research policy landscape, opening a dialogue with regional stakeholders and practitioners.
At its core is the development of the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage – an EU initiative designed to create a shared digital infrastructure that connects institutions and professionals across Europe, supporting digitisation, preservation, and open science through advanced technologies and interoperable data standards.

The NEMO European Museum Conference (Theme: Human after all – Museums in the wake of AI) will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania from the 11th-13th October 2026. Registration opened on the 11th June for NEMO members and on the 22nd June for public members.
Day 1 (Sunday the 11th) consists of the Directors Meeting (for Full NEMO Members) and a number of tours and museum visits.
Days 2 and 3 (12th and 13th) comprise the main events with a programme of talks and break-out sessions covering topics such as the impact of AI and Cyber-security.
