ECHOES has launched its first training course! Introduction to European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage aims to build learners’ foundational understanding of the key concepts and technologies necessary to engage with the Cultural Heritage Cloud. The course, available on DARIAH Campus, consists of five units which provide the background to the development of the ECCCH, the key concepts, how collaboration works in the ECCCH, Open Science and FAIR principles and concludes with a set of illustrative scenarios.

In addition, ECHOES has also developed the OntoMatchGame to facilitate learning about ontological models. This educational application is in the form of a card game, providing a step-by-step guide to understanding how the ontology works and how mapping is used to associate data with ontology entities.

“No collaborative platform can fulfil its potential unless its users have a common understanding of its purpose and capabilities,” said Toma Tasovac, who led the interdisciplinary team that developed ECHOES’ inaugural training offering. “By introducing the concepts, technologies and opportunities behind the Cultural Heritage Cloud, our course aims to lower the barrier to participation and help build the community that will ultimately define the Cloud’s success.”
