Date: June 17, 2025
Location: Goettingen, Germany
Occasion: DARIAH Annual Event 17-20 June.
The ECHOES Co-design User needs and Research Collaboration Scenarios Workshop aims to enhance and evaluate the cross-disciplinary collaboration potential of the ECHOES project. This hands-on workshop will focus on investigating and identifying target ECHOES users types and their needs, utilising preliminary datasets, mockups and alpha versions of tools, test workflows and Heritage Digital Twins, as well as existing online resources, as planned to be offered by ECHOES. It is expected that key concepts will be considered by the participants to exchange ideas on core user needs facing in their workflows and activities, and reflect on identified challenges of the project target communities. This knowledge will inform ongoing prototyping of flagship applications (such as ECHOES Vertical Applications and use cases) and the implementation of the Knowledge Base in action, to co-design and implement Collaborative Research Scenarios (CRS). Participants will explore how these resources can be leveraged to stimulate interdisciplinary collaboration and deepen engagement among diverse research communities of ECHOES.
This workshop is organised by DARIAH in collaboration with The Cyprus Institute, and is aligned with ECHOES’ broader goal of advancing the Digital Continuum to foster collaboration across project stakeholders.
During the workshop, participants will:
- Learn about ECHOES and its envisioned tools and resources.
- Identify ECHOES user categories and key communities.
- Reflect on current user needs and challenges that ECHOES aims to address.
- Engage in co-designing and iterating on Collaborative Research Scenarios tailored to their research needs, and by doing so will inform the development of the ECHOES resource infrastructure.
- Contribute to the evaluation process of these scenarios, using the project’s monitoring methodology.
The workshop will include two main sessions:
Morning Session
9:00 – 11:00: Introduction to ECHOES tools, resources, and the principles of Collaborative Research Scenarios (CRS).
11:00 – 11:30: Break
11:30 – 13:00: Identifying ECHOES user categories and communities
Afternoon Session
14:00 – 15:30: Hands-on activity: Co-designing CRS using ECHOES datasets and tools.
15:30 – 16:00: Break
16:00 – 17:30: Collaborative evaluation of CRS with guidance by the organisers.
